Blacksad: Under the skin is a legitimently good game you should go play right now. This will go into spoilers.

There's so much about Blacksad I can talk about but I wanna keep it mostly want to keep my points clean. The game's opening when you hit start goes directly into the start of the case, a pretty classic noir opening of someone finding the victim. The title screen itself is pretty great showing you the hanging corpse of Joe Dunn every time you boot the game. The actual first bit of game play we get is a QTE of us fighting a Rhino as we caught him cheating on his wife, and as far as QTEs go its pretty interesting and fits the overall noir asthethic. After it sparks the first choice of the game, and I think its the best example of what your going to get. You get the choice to take his money and agree to not sell him out, or refuse his money and say you will or won't. You do not have to stick with what you tell him which I do like. Thoughout the game this Rhino appears and depending on your choices determines how he will react. You can not "ruin" the case in blacksad, the information you need to finish it will always be avalible, you'll just understand more of WHY.

Afterward, Sonia Dunn comes in and starts the ACTUAL noir detective story....or not. You can flat out refuse to take the case, in which the game kicks you back to the main menu. Either way, she and an associate of Blacksad, Jake Ostiombe, come in and explain what happened. Sonia Dunn's father hung himself and his protégé Bobby Yale is missing. Kicking off the start to our noir mystery.

Now, i've left out some important information about Blacksad. This game takes place in the 50s after world war 2, and all its characters are furries. This game is based on a book series, and takes place between the first and second book. Since this is the 50s, racism is kinda still a huge thing in America. While its way more progressive than the real world 50s, racism in this universe is based off fur color, and majority fur color, and its based on how their fur LOOKS, so some animals whilst having an actual dark color for their fur, is still considered white. Why is this important? Blacksad is a black cat, and a world war 2 vet. Though racism isn't a major part of this game, it IS in the book that takes place after this (Artic Nation), and is a plot point a couple of times.
